Soma Bay and Somabay

Soma Bay is the bay and the wider area around it on Egypt’s Red Sea coast. Somabay is the planned destination on the peninsula. Keeping the distinction in mind makes hotel, restaurant and property research much easier.

The Egyptian Tourism Authority places the destination south of Hurghada. CDWS describes the Ras Abu Soma headland and the contrast between its sandy south-western side and the fringing reef to the east and north-east.

Read the coast in order

Hurghada and its airport lie north of the Soma Bay area; Safaga lies farther south. An airport transfer is therefore different from a journey starting in Hurghada city. Use the exact pickup and destination when comparing offers.

Ras Soma is on the northern side of the bay and is a separate development. Marassi Red Sea is Emaar Misr’s separate mainland project. Palm Royale, Caribbean World, Mövenpick and Amwaj should be identified by their own hotel names rather than treated as peninsula hotels.

Different shores, different experiences

A sandy bay setting and a reef-edge setting can suit different days. A sea view alone does not tell you how the shore is reached, what the water entry is like or which activity is offered nearby.

Our original shore comparisons show the relationship between places. They explain geography, not daily sea conditions or permission to use another operator’s facilities.

Useful figures need definitions

A land-area figure may refer to a development, a phase or a wider region. A hotel count depends on whether it includes the peninsula, mainland shore or Ras Soma. Commercial inventories change with their publication date.

This guide keeps those scopes visible instead of combining incompatible figures into one destination statistic. Open the relevant project or place source when a precise number matters.
