Soma Bay beaches and beach clubs

Choose the right beach day: sandy hotel beaches, the house reef and jetty, S.Cape, Wyte, Barbouni and trips around the wider bay.

Which beach day suits you?

Start with the kind of day you want. For a hotel stay with sand and pools, compare Kempinski and Sheraton. For the reef, arrange an ORCA session at the jetty. For a beach-club visit, enquire at S.Cape or Wyte. Ras Soma and Sharm El Naga are separate destinations with their own journeys and admission.

Our choices are editorial suggestions based on published information, not firsthand reviews or a quality ranking.

Somabay peninsula · hotel beach

Kempinski’s sandy beach

Our starting point for a hotel stay focused on sand, a pool and an uncomplicated beach routine. Kempinski describes a 400-metre private sandy beach, a children’s pool and a lazy river.

Shore setting
A sandy hotel beach, distinct from the eastern house-reef jetty.
Food
Beachcomber publishes lunch noon–5 pm and bar service 9 am–6:30 pm. It is the beach outlet; Al Mar is beside the main pool.
Access
Start with your hotel booking. If you are staying elsewhere, ask the hotel whether it offers day access for your date, and what that includes.

Somabay peninsula · hotel beach and family facilities

Sheraton’s beach

Shortlist Sheraton for a family hotel stay when you want a sandy beach and water-play facilities in the same resort. Marriott publishes a private sandy beach, pools and Soma Splash Aqua Park.

Shore setting
Hotel beach on the peninsula. Nearby reef access is a separate activity; choose the entry appropriate to your plans.
Food
Sea View Restaurant is listed daily 11 am–5 pm; Sea Breeze Beach Bar 9 am–5 pm.
Access
Ask Sheraton about guest inclusions or any non-guest day arrangement. The presence of an aqua park does not make every package or visitor eligible.

Eastern peninsula · reef outing

The house reef and ORCA jetty

Choose this for a reef-focused day, rather than for paddling from a sandy beach. ORCA is based at The Breakers and describes a 420-metre jetty leading to the Ras Abu Soma drop-off reef.

What to arrange
Ask ORCA about a snorkelling session or dive suited to your experience, equipment and the day’s conditions.
Access
Confirm the meeting point and jetty arrangements with the operator. Staying elsewhere on the bay does not establish free jetty admission.
Plan the day
Book the reef activity first; arrange lunch and the journey back around its actual finish time.

Somabay peninsula · sandy beach club

S.Cape Beach

Our first beach-club enquiry for a group that wants sand, food and time together. Somabay describes S.Cape as a sandy beach with food services and family activities.

Published beach hours
10 am–sunset. The separate restaurant listing gives 9 am–5 pm, so confirm the outlet you plan to use.
Reservation
The supplied Traveler’s Guide asks for bookings at least two days in advance, subject to availability.
What is not priced here
No current admission fee or minimum spend was verified. Ask for the total, loungers, shade, towels, children’s terms and food credit in one reply.

Next to Duotone · watersports and beach lounging

Wyte Beach Club

Choose Wyte when you want to combine a beach meal with time around the watersports centre. Duotone describes lounging areas and a restaurant beside its base.

Published hours
9 am–sunset in the supplied guide.
Reservation
The guide asks for booking at least two days ahead. Its dining page publishes +20 155 409 2871; an earlier page prints a malformed version.
With watersports
Make the lesson or rental booking separately. Ask the centre which areas are for swimming and which are for launching equipment.

Somabay · seafood and beach time

Barbouni Beach Club

A useful alternative when you want the meal to be a bigger part of the beach day. Somabay’s supplied guide describes a Mediterranean beach club; book the specific service rather than relying on a general opening time.

Published beach-club schedule
Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: bar 11 am–6 pm, restaurant noon–6 pm. Monday closed. Friday and Saturday: bar 11 am–10 pm, restaurant noon–10 pm.
Conflict to resolve
The same guide’s dining section and the golf website say 3–10 pm. Ask which venue or service those hours describe.
Booking
Dinner is by reservation only in the beach-club listing. Confirm the location, beach inclusion and any minimum spend.

North side of the bay · separate hotel beach

Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma

Consider this when choosing a stay on the north side of the bay. H Rewards publishes a private sandy beach, pools, a kids’ club and a beach restaurant at Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma.

Where
Ras Soma, separate from the Somabay peninsula and its hotels.
Food
Maya Beach Restaurant publishes lunch noon–4:30 pm and dinner 7–10 pm.
Access and travel
Use the resort’s own entrance and booking arrangements. A Somabay home or hotel booking does not provide admission here.

Outside the peninsula · sandy beach and house reef

Sharm El Naga

Choose Sharm El Naga for a separate beach-and-snorkelling excursion. The resort describes a sandy beach and protected house reef, making it a different day from staying within Somabay.

Published day package
The Egyptians/residents page lists entry, towel, snorkelling equipment and a barbecue lunch from 1–2 pm. That lunch window is not the beach opening time.
Eligibility and price
The page asks residents to bring a passport and visa. No current price is published in the reviewed package text. Ask which package and rate applies to you.
Getting there
Arrange the road transfer and return pickup with your accommodation or operator. Reception is the contact below.

MAKE A PLAN

Put together a beach day

Understand the two shore settings

CDWS describes a broad sandy shore to the south-west and fringing reef to the east and north-east of Ras Abu Soma. A hotel beach and the reef drop-off are different experiences. Use the original shore map for orientation, then ask the venue about its actual entry point.

A simple family beach day

If you are staying at Kempinski or Sheraton, begin with your own hotel’s beach and facilities. Choose lunch nearby and leave room for a break from the sun. If staying in a home, arrange a beach-club booking before planning the day around it.

A reef morning and marina evening

Arrange the ORCA session first, with equipment and conditions discussed with the centre. Leave time to return to your accommodation, then choose a marina meal. A jetty visit and dinner are separate bookings.

A full excursion day

Sharm El Naga is a separate road trip. Confirm your package and eligibility, then arrange pickup and the return. The published residents’ package includes a 1–2 pm lunch; use that detail when planning the day.

Access, prices and getting there

Day passes and beach prices

No current general day-pass price was verified for S.Cape, Wyte, Barbouni or the hotel beaches. Ask for the total for your party, including entry, loungers, shade, towels, food credit, children and tax. A restaurant reservation alone does not establish beach access.

Swimming and reef conditions

Use the venue’s current swimming areas, flags and staff advice. Wind, waves and access can change. A photograph or a shallow-looking area does not establish suitability for a particular swimmer. Keep off coral and ask the activity operator about the right entry and supervision for your group.

Names and getting there

Somabay is the peninsula destination. Ras Soma is on the north side of the bay; Palm Royale, Caribbean World, Mövenpick and Amwaj are separate mainland-shore hotels. Use your exact hotel or venue name for road transfers. A nearby position across the water does not mean a short walk.

Common questions

Does Soma Bay have sandy beaches?

Yes. Kempinski and Sheraton publish private sandy beaches, and Somabay describes S.Cape as sandy. CDWS distinguishes the sandy south-west shore from the eastern reef. Choose the particular beach rather than assuming all the coastline is the same.

Which beach is best for snorkelling?

For a reef-focused outing on the peninsula, start with ORCA at The Breakers and its house-reef jetty. Sharm El Naga is a separate excursion option with a published house reef. The operator should advise on the day’s conditions and a session suited to your group.

Can I use the beaches without staying at a hotel?

Beach clubs are useful places to enquire, but admission is venue-specific. Somabay’s supplied guide asks for advance reservations at S.Cape and Wyte. No unrestricted public-beach entitlement or current day-pass tariff was verified by this review.

Is Ras Soma the same as Somabay?

No. Ras Soma is the north side of the wider bay, including Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma. Somabay is the planned destination on the peninsula. Their hotel bookings, entrances and beach arrangements are separate.

THE INDEPENDENT GUIDE

Soma Bay beaches and beach clubs

Compare sandy settings, reef-side experiences and beach-club visits around the bay.

Choose the kind of beach day

Start with the experience you want: a sandy shore, a reef visit, a hotel day or a beach-club meal. The same destination name can cover different shore settings and different arrangements.

CDWS’s description distinguishes the sandy south-west from the eastern reef. Our shore atlas and location references help connect that broad geography to the places already in the guide.

A hotel beach and a beach-club visit

A hotel guest’s arrangements are set by the stay and the hotel. A beach-club visit may have a separate reservation, package or admission process. A restaurant booking should identify which parts of the venue it includes.

Somabay’s directory names S.Cape, Wyte and the jetty among its experiences. Use the individual place references to begin the enquiry; inclusion in a directory does not settle the offer for your party.

Compare the whole day

Compare the shore setting, food, shade, facilities and the journey from your actual base. The best choice for a short meal can differ from the choice for a full day with children or equipment.

Keep outward and return transport together. A place that looks nearby across the bay can involve a different road or entrance. The original across-the-bay comparison explains that geography.

Save the places you want to investigate

Use Explore to browse places and save a shortlist to My stay. You can group saved places into days, then use their full profiles and source links to arrange the visit.

For reef plans, read the snorkelling guide as well. A beach photograph should not be used to judge water conditions or an individual swimmer’s suitability.
